 Minutes of the Annual General Meeting

Held at the Village Hall, Hinton Waldrist, Oxfordshire.

At 11am Saturday 8th November 2008

 

 

 

1.         NOTICE CALLING THE MEETING. Published in the CTC Cycle Magazine, Oct/Nov issue

 

  1. ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN. James Dawton was proposed by Eve Thornton and seconded by John Holding.

 

  1. ELECTION OF MINUTES’ TAKER Helen Beane was proposed by Eve Thornton and seconded by John Bridgman.

 

Eve Thornton welcomed Barry Jordan, the National Councillor for the South East Region, to the meeting.

 

  1. APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE.  Peter & Eileen Johnson, Peter & Ross Hallowell, Stephen Lee, Rosey Hollinrake, Edith Hipwell.

 

 

  1. MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING. Were read out. Proposed by John Bridgman, Seconded by Robert Bley, and signed as correct.

14. MOTIONS TO THE AGM   

                                                                                                                            

 a) That the former Oxfordshire DA accepts CTC Oxford City as a Member Group of CTC Oxfordshire

 

b) The AGM of CTC Wantage proposed that what was known as the Oxfordshire DA accepts CTC Wantage Member Group as part of what is now known as CTC Oxfordshire

 

c) That the former Oxfordshire DA accepts CTC Oxon Midweek as a Member Group of CTC Oxfordshire

 

d) That the former Oxfordshire DA accepts what was known as West Oxon Section as an informal group known as CTC Witney.

 No other motions for this AGM were submitted to the DA Secretary during the stipulated time period, which is three weeks before the AGM.

 

15 THE OXFORDSHIRE CYCLIST MAGAZINE.

 

The current editor is resigning after the winter issue. Peter Hallowell is willing to take on the management of the Magazine if he has enough support from all the Oxfordshire Cycling Clubs. Phil Wray will be willing to assist.

 

16 GENERAL DISCUSSION.

 

The role of the Oxfordshire Member Group in the new structure.

 

a)    To issue welcome packs to new members.

b)   Co-ordination between the groups and National Office.

c)    Promote cycling in Oxford

d)   Oversee some aspects of the subsidiary member groups and informal groups.

e)    Arrange joint rides between member groups.

f)    Oversee local Audaxes.

g)    Joint ride to celebrate 85 years of the CTC Oxfordshire. Steve Swanton will organise 85mile/85 kilometre rides.

h)   Annual Dinner.

 

17 A.O.B

Steve Swanton proposed a vote of thanks to the Committee for their work over the past year, especially to Eve who is resigning after 7 years as Secretary and Registrar and to Steve Quartermain after 5 years as Treasurer.

 

Mat Chambers suggested arranging long distance/overnight rides or join the Central London Group on their ride to the coast in the summer.
