About our Rides

We organise regular rides on most Sundays, which start outside the Campus Store in Broad Street, Oxford.

Our program contains a variety of rides, and we hope there is something for everyone.  They are very civilised, taking in a coffee stop and a lunch stop, either in a Pub or Cafe. In the summer, we include a tea stop on the longer rides, and may carry a picnic.

Distances range from 35 to 70 plus miles.

An experienced cyclist leads all the regular rides. The start time depends on the distance of the ride, the time of year, and the ride leader.
See the Rides List in this web site for details.
We have approximately 10 to 20 people riders out most weeks.
If you feel you are unable to come out for the whole day, you are welcome to come as far as the coffee stop, or join us at the coffee stop or lunch stop.
Please feel free to contact the ride leader beforehand if you have any queries or doubts. Some rides leaders have mobile phones, which are listed, and will be switched on during the ride, if you need to make contact.
The pace depends on the length of the ride, i.e. the shorter rides are more leisurely. As far as is feasible, the pace is set to accommodate the slowest rider, and every effort is made not to loose anyone!

Children are welcome on our rides but must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

It is important, before coming on the ride to please make sure that your bike is in good working order. It is sensible to carry a spare inner tube, a puncture repair kit, and a bicycle pump. It is also advisable to carry extra clothing and waterproofs if the weather is changeable. You will need to carry plenty of water to drink to prevent dehydration, and snacks if you run out of oomph!

New riders do not have to be a CTC member to come on the rides, but if they cause any injury, damage or loss to the public or fellow cyclist, they may incur liability. CTC members are covered for such, under the clubs third party/public liability policy.
